Hand-Feed the Herd of Seven Giraffe!
Presented by the Wynn Family of Businesses

The Giraffe Preview Exhibit itself is sponsored by the Southwest Florida radio stations of Renda Broadcasting: Gator Country 101.9, BOB-FM 102.9, FM Talk 98.9 WGUF, and Mix 104.7.

For the first time ever in Naples, you can hand-feed the new herd of seven reticulated giraffe at Naples Zoo. You get an incredible view as the world’s tallest animals lean down to nibble fresh veggies out of your hand. For a $5 fee, you'll receive a serving of tasty giraffe treats from Wynn's Market. It's an experience you won't forget.

hand-feeding a giraffe in Kenya. Now you can
do the same thing here in southwest Florida!

“I had the incredible joy of doing this in Africa,” said the Zoo’s Director of Conservation Tim Tetzlaff. “I’m thrilled everyone now has the chance to do this here in Naples.” Hand-feeding of these gentle giants is scheduled daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Feedings subject to change with the giraffe's appetites, of course.)

Trained docents answer will answer your questions. Learn how little they sleep each day and why high blood pressure is a good thing for giraffes!

“The kids are going to go crazy,” Jack Hanna, Columbus Zoo Director Emeritus, said when describing the experience at a Naples Zoo fundraiser to bring the giraffe to Naples. “That long eighteen to twenty inch tongue taking food right out of their hands. It’s a fun way to really connect people to nature.”

This bachelor herd of seven male giraffe was formed through the cooperation of nationally accredited zoos between Florida and California. Don't miss seeing these skyscrapers of the savanna. This is a truly delightful experience with the tallest species of animal on Earth.

Jack Hanna Started the Fun!

An Evening with Jack Hanna, Naples Zoo’s first major fundraiser for the new giraffe habitat in February 2010 was an unqualified success. Naples Zoo is fundraising for an expanded permanent giraffe habitat as part of the Kiwa Ranch expansion scheduled to open in an all new never-before-seen region of the Zoo in the next few years.

These elegant “skyscrapers of the savanna” will be sure to capture your imagination through an exhibit that will be both innovative and interactive. You will be able to view these beloved animals from ground level as well as an all new eye-to-eye viewing experience. Best of all, you will still be able get up close and personal as you hand-feed the world’s tallest animals. Donate today!

The giraffe herd is now living in what will eventually be a behind-the-scenes area for Kiwa Ranch. The giraffe were brought in early as it is better to transport giraffe when they are young as well as introduce them to each other. As the Zoo fundraises for Kiwa Ranch, they will be quite comfortable as their area is six times larger than the state requires and larger than some zoo's permanent habitats.

You can help create the new Kiwa Ranch
and its all new giraffe habitat at your Zoo!
