Today is the start of the 50th anniversary celebration of Week of the Young Child, sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). While it’s Naples Zoo’s mission to inspire all ages to respect, value, and help conserve wildlife and our natural world, we’re particularly passionate about educating young children and inspiring them to be environmental stewards.
We want to celebrate the Week of the Young Child because we recognize just how critical the needs of young children are, the important roles educators play, and for families to recognize the variety of early childhood opportunities available to meet those needs. Beginning Monday, April 12 through Friday, April 16, Naples Zoo will join the week-long celebration by posting educational videos on our social channels for children and their families to enjoy. We hope you will follow along with each daily theme and even participate with your own projects at home.
The learning doesn't stop there. Here at Naples Zoo, we offer a fun and engaging program series for children 3 to 5 years old known as Safari Squad. This informal, play-based inspired program is designed for a child and adult to share positive moments in nature to inspire caring attitudes and empathy for animals and the natural world. Safari Squad is currently a member-exclusive program as a benefit for supporting Naples Zoo. Click here to learn more and register!
